Donato's Cousin, 27

day 5: a day (or more) of rest
"How do you know when you are in love?
How do you know when you miss someone?
How do you know when you are inspired?
How do you know when you found the right answer?
You FEEL it, that is how you know."  ~ Shamalah-Allah

day 4: the finished painting
I think of my mother & father often, with love & gratitude in my heart. As I was painting this man's face & hair, a likeness of my father emerged. So I decided to go with it. It's not my father's face exactly but could easily be his cousin from The Old Country, thus the title, "Donato's Cousin".

This painting is for sale in my online store (with more photos too): https://www.etsy.com/listing/175474871

day 3: creating the pre-painting composition (using Adobe Photoshop)
I decided again not to work out the composition too much ahead of time. My only decisions were to how to crop and then to flip it.

day 2: capturing the selected image
Here he is, and if you follow the link you'll see the much larger landscape as well as a woman (his wife?) hanging clothes on the line:

day 1: planning the destination
We are still in Lazio Italy. My goal is to find and paint 3 figures. This man is the second I found with a likeness of mi familia.
